Alas, I have run out of "Pocky"

Today, I ate the scattered remnants of the boxes of Pocky I brought home from Thailand.

This is rather unfortunate, for as good as it was, I'm now left without any Pocky.

For those of you who haven't asked me what on earth I'm talking about yet, Pocky is an Asian snack food (I believe the company is located in Japan), made up of cracker/cookie/pretzel things ("biscuit sticks," according to the package) dipped in flavoring. I brought home the chocolate variety, while Kat brought home strawberry and Lauren preferred banana. It is a wonderful little snack that comes in small, inexpensive boxes.

The seven boxes I brought home lasted me an entire month, which is surprising. Most of the Pocky our group brought back disappeared rapidly, with Julie's only managing to last because she had Chris bring her more on his return. Yet, even though I shared some Pocky on production night, the last box wasn't finished until this afternoon after lunch.

At least I enjoyed it as it disappeared. The seven empty boxes (all the crumbs cleaned out) are now souvenirs.

ANYWAY, onto bigger and better matters.

This semester is going to be awesome. I've now had quizzes in History and New Testament, a paper for Great Books, and an exam in English, all of which seemed to go really well. I'm also getting into Writing for the Mass Media with a good start, since the C&C experience helps.

I love my teachers, too. Dr. Poe, in particular, is a particularly amazing personality who chases down rabbits in his class that seem to potentially be in ANY field of knowledge, and then actually tie it back to the New Testament Survey.

Last Friday saw the "Cardinal Ball," a party held at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Despite the fact that I had to wear a suit (thanks again for letting me borrow that via FedEx, Dad), I had a great time. There was quite a bit of dancing (apparently, far enough off campus, the no-social-dancing rule in the student contract doesn't apply), which could have been odd since I suffer, as Nic Pfost put it, from OCD (Overly Causasian Disorder). However, I was certainly not the only dorky white boy in attendance, so we all managed to have a good time.

I went with Amanda Atchison, first going to dinner and driving to Memphis with Bryan Emerson and Renee Roberson. I think we all had a lot of fun.

The first issue of the new semester is out for the Cardinal & Cream; despite the fact that we were happy with the way it looked when we left, of course, we didn't see the final draft of the news pages, and some errors made it in. HOWEVER, my articles (I had three of them!) turned out really well, and - this is cool to say - my section, as A&E Assistant Editor, was great, too.

This Friday, I'll be going with several other Unionites to Ft. Worth! There's a conference there this weekend on photography and journalism, apparently with a group associated with Union's own Mr. Jim Veneman and Morris Abernathy. That should be fun.

Oh, and we managed to pass our first room checks with our new RA (Kelly from next door). Well, our whole apartment passed with the exception of John's room, so that's pretty much par for the course.

I apologize for not going to great lengths about the last few weeks, but, getting into the swing of things, they've been pretty nice in terms of being quiet. Woohoo!
