So I Have This Habit...
Currently Watching The X-Files - The Complete First Season Episode 1x10: Eve see related |
I have this habit of being on my way to nowhere in particular and ending up talking to somebody on the way, and then ending up completely out of my way. I have, in months past, been walking from the Student Union Building to Ellis, which is perhaps the shortest route from a school building to a dorm building, and ended up in Rogers, which is actually closer to Arby's than to the classrooms.
So, as I write this, I'm sitting up in the DMS lab for no apparent reason, just hanging out with Patrick as he downloads some sutff before getting to work on a project for a theatre event tomorrow evening. Alaina is here too. It's a good time.
Okay, I apologize for going a while without posting. Things have been a little hectic, so here's the wrap-up...
A Battle of Dimwits was entirely too much fun. People have been telling all of us how much they enjoyed it, and I'm glad. We had a great cast (some of the greatest people I have ever met), and some of the material we actually came up with was hysterically funny, if a cast member can say so.
I mean, any play that includes the line "This... man... makes me want to rip off my skin, layer by layer, and then burn it for sanitation purposes!" (Columbina di Bisignosi, portrayed by Ashley Mitchell) is bound to be a hit.
Last Sunday, we had our cast party. We did scenes in each other roles. I think we all know the whole thing a little too well by now. We even knew everyone's favorite ad-lib mannerisms.
Oh, and when I come back, I'll be joining a "fraternity." Yes, I did just write that, so, no, obviously, I can't mean it in the typical sense. Notice the quotation marks. After being in Dimwits and the one-acts, I come almost to the quick minimum requirements of the Union Players, so next fall, I'll be eligible to join a national honorary theatre society. A few people joined Alpha Psi Omega this evening, including Julie Palmer, if that helps clarify.
The last Cardinal & Cream of the semester came out last week, featuring a page laid out by yours truly and a "chARTS" ("Christianity and the Arts") column that I wrote. I thought it went really well, and so did Nic, and so did Dr. Chute.
Speaking of the Cardinal & Cream, they announced the edit staff for next year, with Gypsy as editor-in-chief and Julie Pickard as managing editor. Congratulations to both of them. I'm going to be a full section editor next year!! A&E is mine! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Sorry. Maniacal celebration over.
Okay, so earlier this week, I was feeling really sick. I was queasy, I was lightheaded, I was shaky... so I went to the nurse, who couldn't tell what was going on. I was called back for a followup after getting a lot of rest, and, by this point, I was feeling a LOT better. No light-headedness, no queasiness, no shakiness... just a little headache. So I get there, and the nurse practitioner said that the nurse who looked at me before was a little concered that I might have meningitis. Needless to say, no matter how unlikely this is, it freaked me out. Thankfully, the possibility was ruled out very quickly, and I was diagnosed with a SINUS INFECTION, and I'm just about completely over that now. Don't you love it when NOTHING gets to wreak havoc on your system?
I called Mom and let her know everything that had happened... and she's a little mad for not having called BEFORE going back, so I'm sorry, Mom.
I'm insane. Can I officially enter that into the record? Nic and I determined that we were going to do most, if not all, of the work on "Chick Flick 101" when things are still taking off in September. And, with the planned downtime, my brain started wandering. I now have something like plans for "Chick Flick 211" and "Chick Flick 320." I can't do uncomplicated, apparently.
I went and spent my $50 Best Buy gift card today. I had a little spare time, so I walked over to Best Buy, and I bought the "Revenge of the Sith" soundtrack (some of John Williams's finest work) and, because it cost far less than the marked price, I bought "X-Files" season 1 on DVD. I've watched two episodes already, and I love it. Thanks again, SAC, for "Right is the Price."
Today was our final history class. I got my honors paper done. Stuff is all turned in. So now all that is left of my freshman year is the worst part... FINALS WEEK. I'm feeling prepared though, so things should be good. Now I just have to get all my stuff packed up so I can leave...
And then move into a different room in the fall! I'm officially going to be in Ebersold 10 with Kyle Kurlick, David Hancock, and Paul Cornwell. That should be fun room. I'm also all ready for everything else in the fall... I'm excited for sophomore year now.
Another academic year of wandering with people. Here we go...

Ok - you cannot have a maniacal laugh without a "mu" infront of all the "haha"s. Believe me - I'm an expert. Don't believe me? Ask my brother. Scratch that. Ask anyone in my drama team. They know even better. :)

Yay for Revenge of the Sith soundtracks. I almost died of laughter when I got your text last night. And I was in the middle of the restaurant and started cracking up. I don't have text on my phone, so I didn't send anything back. Oh and John, Tyler can get away with maniacal without the mu in front of it. He's just that good.

no one is that good - and besides, don't you remember that as much a stess-reliever maniacal laughter is, its unhealthy - it distracts you from paying attention to details, such as that rebel scum lying at your feet that you're about to kill, but then you start laughing maniaclly, and suddenly he has a sword in his hand and even sooner its in your abdomen and your maniacl laughter is over even quicker ... well, fine, alright, you can have a maniacal laugh without the mu in front (I can do that, but believe me, I have a lot of experience) but I don't advise that you do that, in case you have an enemy that you don't know about and he has a sharp pointy object, or something that can fire something at high velocity. Just be careful ...

John, John, John, I'm not laughing as an evil mastermind, I'm laughing like a maniac. The power to which I was referring has no practical effect until the retreat the staff will be going on shortly before the fall semester, so I have all summer to worry about rebel scum. And I considered making it "Muahahahahahaha," but I had started with a simple "haha" and didn't feel it was worth hitting the edit button. Trivialities are not my concern at present. I'm not on the Death Star, so they can forego a particle shield for the time being.

I see. One of those Psychotic laughs? I like those ... I like Psychotic Penguins even more though ... yes, being psychotic has its rewards ... of course, there is a point where you are so psychotic that people actually begin to think that you really are psychotic (which is really funny, trust me) just because you can do it so well ...
But I am glad that you haven't quite yet become powerful enough to have a rebellion against you - when that comes to be, look me up - I'm a great hitman ...
Oh, and I'm really impressed my one comment has gotten so many replies ...

Alrighty now Tyler, time to update the website. Or call me. Whichever. I could take either. By the by, have you seen the Discworld art book? It's classic. Oh, and a movie you must see: Fat Albert (we should watch that together).
